AUGUST 9th - INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD'S INDIGENOUS PEOPLE
But here in this great brown land, our Federal government will be suspending the Racial Discrimination Act in order to ram through both houses of parliament controlled by its coalition, legislation which will fail to address the issues that this government claims it is concerned about.
Legislation that includes provisions for every meeting to be attended by a government appointed representative, for a registration system requiring anyone using a government funded computer to log their use. It ranges from the enforced quarantining of ALL welfare payments going into the 73 communities targeted in the legislation, to the dumping of the permit system.
This legislation is punitive, cruel, racist & will push aboriginal rights back prior to 1967.
Any & every member of parliament who votes to support this legislation should be shamed. If the ALP is too gutless to stand & fight this appalling breech of governance, they should at least abstain when voting in both houses occurs. To support this legislation is to support a racist act.
John Howard, Mal Brough & all the other people who will say Yea to this legislation over the next 48 hours have earned nothing but the title of racist.

I wish I had something coherent to say, but I'm too ashamed of our elected representatives to manage it.
